HP17BII dark display
Yesterday I could not resist and bouhgt a 17BII, really beutifull, like new with case and manual for an excelent price (I love pioneers and their fantastic soft keyboard).

The only issue is the display, although readable, is very dark, very different from others pioneers that I have used. The calculator pass on the self test.

Anyone knows if it is a defect or some bad displays batches during manufactoring?

I'm just curios, I can use it normaly (but not under not so good light) and I'm not regreting my new purchase.

Really T.I.A.

RE: HP17BII dark display
Since you did not mention, I will ask: Did you attempt to adjust the display contrast by turning on, pressing and holding the CLR key, then pressing the minus key to lighten the display? (Pressing the plus key will darken the display, but it does not sound like you need to do that.)

Dave - My mind is going - I can feel it.

Hi Jeff, thanks for the reply.

Yes, sure did it, but even turned off the display is very dark. The contrast adjustment helps a bit, but still the whole display is dark.

Is there something wrong with the polarizer on the LCD? If it was not right, it would make the whole display ( segments and non segments) appear darker than expected.
YMMV.

Thanks Shawn, but how do I check this?
