I have considered that too, but soon discarded for the calculator in Terry photo has kinda bigger key, maybe a switch, in the upper right side, which is darker than other key.

Bill, you have brought a tough charade for us. But I really like it.

I agree with Johnson, looks like a tape that fits on the display.

For the calculator, i don't know.
But the woman is Terry Gross (born in 1951) using a tape deck.
Photo used for the 40th anniversary of "Fresh Air".
(an interview radio show produced by WHYY-FM in Philadelphia)
So it was in 1975 ! Terry was 24 years old.
