SwissMicros DM 15
My hp 15C LE suffers from "6" not registering, double entry of "3" on some key presses.
Tempted to get a SwissMicros 15. How does the SwissMicros 15 compare in speed with the LE in solve and integration problems? |

RE: SwissMicros DM 15
This has been discussed well in this thread.
Short answer, yes, the DM-15L is better than HP-15CLE and has the ability to communicate with a PC, where you can edit and backup programs etc. Don't know about speed. The LE might be faster. |

I've got the 16 rather than the 15, but I can say that a program to calculate 195 digits of Pi, estimated to take around 17 hours on a real 16C, ran in somewhere around an hour on my 16L (didn't time it exactly; I went downstairs to have lunch, and it was done when I got back to my desk). This was in the default 48 MHz mode. Not sure how that compares with the 15C LE, but it's definitely much faster than the original model. |

You can find speed comparisons between HP-15C, HP-15C LE, and DM-15 (and many other calculators) here, here and here. The DM-15 is much faster than the HP-15C, and much slower than the HP-15C LE. RE: SwissMicros DM 15
The DM-15L is about 5 times faster than the original HP-15C. (12 Mhz mode)
The DM-15L is about 20 times faster than the original HP-15C (48 Mhz mode) The HP-15CLE is about 25 times faster than the DM-15L (12 Mhz mode) The HP-15CLE is about 6 times faster than the DM-15L (48 Mhz mode) The HP-15CLE is about 124 times faster than the original HP-15C These numbers are rounded (approximates) based on Bernd Grubert's Bessel Function test program. |

It's mostly due to emulation efficiency. While I'm not sure of this history, what I remember from past discussions here was that that Eric Smith wrote the original emulator for the Voyagers for his Nopariel project and that Cyrille de Brebisson (HP calculator group) made refinements to it for the 12C (ARM version) and 15C LE. -katie |
