pyILPER moved to Qt5
Hi all,

starting from version 1.5 pyILPER moved to Version 5 of the Qt gui framework. Version 4 of Qt is not maintained any more and thus there will be no more pyILPER releases for Qt4. Qt5 based applications will also provide a better user experience on high resolution displays.

There is a a public beta prerelease 1.5.0beta1. This prerelease is also distributed over the Anaconda channels. See
this instruction how to install pyILPER 1.5.0beta1 hazard-free alongside your pyILPER 1.4.0 production version.

pyILPER 1.5.0beta1 does not require an updated version of the LIFUTILS.

If pyILPER 1.5.0 production was released there will be an easy upgrade of your Anaconda environment to Qt5.

The most notable changes of pyILPER 1.5.0beta1 are:
  • Improved stability for virtual HP-IL over TCP/IP.
  • The new PILTERM version 2 is default now. You find the old version as PILTERM1 on the PILIMAGE.DAT image.
  • The font size of the drive directory listing can now be configured. The row height of the directory entries are now properly adjusted to the font size.

regards,
Joachim

RE: pyILPER moved to Qt5
The final version 1.5.0 is available. It got a new layout of the online manual.

If you used pyILPER 1.4.0 with the Anaconda platform simply type:

Code:
conda install python=3.6

This will install pyILPER 1.5.0 and upgrade all runtime dependencies.

Please see the installation instructions for further details.

Any coments are highly appreciated.

Regards
Joachim
