on-off button on HP 11C
I can only turn on or off my HP 11C after multiple attempts. Would cleaning and restoring the conductivity of the switch/pad correct the problem?

You may be able to clean the contacts under a key that is not responding without disassembling the heat-staked keyboard. See post #2 by David Smith in the following thread:
