Probability and normal distribution
Hoping this is out there somewhere, just can't find it.
How do I find the probability of a sample mean being a given distance from the population mean? I.e. If the population has a mean of 70, and sd of 5, what is the probability that a sample of size 4 will have a mean of less than 65? I can do it in many stages, but is there an app or function that will do it directly? It seems quite a common task to want to do. |

RE: Probability and normal distribution
Found it, was using function with wrong inputs

RE: Probability and normal distribution
I think that the HP Prime is much better (more functions and distributions) at such problems than previous machines (e.g., my beloved HP 50G).

Overall, the stats capability of the 48 series was rather abysmal. Even when the 28/48 came out, most statistics were already being done on a computer and I believe the assumption was that past a few minimal basics, most engineers wouldn't need more then that. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |
