Geometry App - reboot problem
In the gemoetry app, if I plot a curve, such as x^2-2, and view it, it's just fine.

If I then select cmds -> Line -> tangent, as soon as I select the curve the calculator reboots

What am I doing wrong????

(running latest version of firmware)

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
Could somebody please just confirm if this is a problem for them, or does it work ok on your machine? Crashes both Prime and Emulator for me

How are you entering the curve equation? It works ok for me if I draw a curve with the touchscreen

For me, Geometry and the spreadsheet are the buggiest parts of the calculator. Not being able to enter the points precisely in "Plot" for the geometry just kills it for me. I just try to stay away of these and embrace Advanced Graphing Smile

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
I'm using the Geometry App in Symbolic, to Plot a Function (x^2)

Then in the Plot view, adding Line - Tangent, and as soon as I click the x^2 curve to attach the tangent too - bang it crashes.

There is blog of a guy doing exactly this a few years back, so I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Tangents work just fine on a circle, but not on a function. This is so simple, I can't believe it would still be a bug given how long the calculator has been around

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
No, but won't do what I want.

The idea is that the tangent creates a table of x values against slope, which I can use with students to get them to work out the original equation by plotting the differential.

This is exactly what I have seen working (albeit about 2013/14), so I guess a later firmware update has introduced the bug.

How do I report bugs to HP? And do they take any notice?

Maybe thru HP forum: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Calculators/bd-p/bsc-408

but I am pretty sure they will see this message here too. TW, Cirille, etc

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
Actually, I was checking your issue again, and it seems you can input everything thru the Symb screen. No hangs.

I used:
GA:= plotfunc(x^2);
GB:= tangent(GA,some point like 2);

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
I've seen a problem like you report, and then had it work fine for me the next few. Something funny is definitely going on.

It is on the list to investigate. Thanks!

RE: Geometry App - reboot problem
right, and it happens on the Android app as well ...
Reported this via app crash feedback.
But does this help?
I doubt ...

It generally takes several days to filter through to us...

Sure Tim, I don't expect fixes or feedback within minutes Big Grin

After the problem is reproduced, and fix worked on - how long does a firmware update take to be released?
