HP 82160A HP-il Interface looptest

Hi all,

I purchased an HP82160A HP-IL Interface for my HP41CV.
Unfortunately I have no other HP-IL gear at the moment, but like to test the Interface, if it works.
Is there a short program example or even a built in "loop test".

I appreciate any hints ...

The command PWRUP or PWRDN should give you your loopback test.
If the two wire are connected together, one of the above commands will not give you any feedback.
If the two wire are disconnected or broken then the "TRANSMIT ERR" message will be displayed on the LCD.

Hi Sylvain,

thank you very much indeed. First I tried
01 LBL AAA
02 PWRUP

which did not work, but a direct
XEQ PWRUP
worked perfect.

For *ANY* HP-IL work, a PIL-Box (here) is absolutely essential and a real joy to use. Once you have that working, look closely at Christoph's Virtual HP-IL Extensions (here). Useful, easy to learn and use, and fun.

.. actually I already started to read the documentation from J.F., the HP-IL reference specification and "Control the world with HP-IL"....
