Print bar code with HP-41
I'd like to print barcode with the HP-41.
I've got IL, but neither 82162 nor 2225B. I've got an 82143 and an 82240.

82162 & 2225B: hard to get, enough hardware on the shelf.
82143: has not enough buffer size... any possibility to increase that (yeah, requires soldering)
82240: as it is much more modern than 82143: can it do barcode printing?

Any other way apart from solutions away from the HP-41?

What about that one?

http://rwiker.github.io/hp41barcode/

A sample program is listed. Just click on "Do it" and you're done.
See the instructions tab.

Andi

PS: Of course you have to re-type the program :-\

HP-41 infrared module does not support barcode printing.

82162 thermal printer does support barcode but it's not pretty.

Several possible setup to print barcode from the HP-41 ...

41C/41CV/41CX + 82160A HP-IL Module + 82184A Plotter or Clonix-D Module + 7470A-Opt.3 HP-IL Graphics Plotter.
or
41CL + 82160A HP-IL Module + 7470A-Opt.3 HP-IL Graphics Plotter.
or
41C/41CV/41CX + 82160A HP-IL Module + 82184A Plotter or Clonix-D Module + PIL-Box + pyILPER Plotter Emulation.

41CL + 82160A HP-IL Module + PIL-Box + pyILPER Plotter Emulation.

You can also look at Print your own HP-41 barcode! article from Gene.

Specifically for the HP 82162A Thomas Okken wrote in an old post:

"Also, if I remember correctly, the 82162 lets you control the amount by which the paper advances, so you can create graphics without any gap between lines. You can't do that with the 82143."
https://archived.hpcalc.org/museumforum/...l#pid68941

I do remember that the possibility of a shortened line feed was promoted, when that printer launched. There is however no information anywhere, how this can be invoked.

Anybody anything? Thank you!

PPC Journal V9N4P44 includes an article "82162A BAR CODE - AT LAST".

To save you from much searching, look here:

RE: Print bar code with HP-41
My HP41UC utility will print barcode from a file.
Of course, you'd need to somehow transfer the program/data from the 41 to your computer (e.g., to a LIF file, like the one created by ILPer).

1) Transfer from HP-41 to LIF file on your computer:
(HP-41+HP-IL)=>PILbox=>USB (computer)=>ILPer2.4=>HP9114B.DAT

2) Use HP41UC to extract program/data for LIF file, and generate barcode as output.

You can download the HP41UC utility from SourceForge (it includes a "UsersGuide"):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hp41uc/

My article (in German) about generating barcode: HP-41 Barcodes schnell erstellt.

And a short video where you can see the oldschool way of printing barcodes.
