Interesting! Here are both of mine, photographed side by side with lighting directly above to reveal how shiny or flat they both are. The flat black is more readable and less prone to uglification from fingerprints, but the shiny black is more dramatic, so it makes better desk jewelry. <0|ɸ|0> -Joe- |

RE: How rare is the 35s Anniversary Edition?
Joe,
Do you know why the original HP was given the "35" model number, and why the 35s is not a true 35 ? |

The original HP-35 had 35 keys, and I think that's why they chose that name. The 35s was never intended to be a "true" 35, if by that you mean a clone or a same-but-faster version (like the 15C LE was). It was the successor to the 32SII and 33S, very similar to them in many respects, but with a "retro" look chosen specifically to honor the 35th anniversary of the original HP-35. Disclaimer: I think the above is correct, but don't quote me, because I ran out of coffee and I no longer trust anything my brain tells me. <0|ɸ|0> -Joe- |

RE: How rare is the 35s Anniversary Edition?
You are spot on correct. The HP 35s does not even really look like a 35, other than having a black case with silver trim. It's kinda like Ford advertising the Ford Granada as being mistaken for a Mercedes.

To Mr Micheal de Estrada
Sir, You said you bought seven HP15C L.E. Well, I have 10 new (still in the box, batteries out) HP50g. I am looking for an HP-15C limited edition. Are you interested to exchange one of your HP15C with one of my HP50g, please ? |

Hi, Joe:
Did you ever get a $ amount on the value of your HP 35s 35th anniversary edition? I would be interested in that, as I have one too. The 35s was my first project after coming back to HP in 2006. Warm regards, GT Springer PS: Yes, there is life after HP ... |

RE: How rare is the 35s Anniversary Edition?
I think I sold mine for 300$US to someone at an HHC from memory.... was definitely somewhere in the 200-400 range.
TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

I will include (at no extra charge) assembly instructions and a brand new tube of glue. I will ship it to you be next day carrier — also at no extra charge. Whadaya think? |

That's ME in the picture, not you. <sigh> EDIT: It just hit me that maybe the reason I posted that picture isn't obvious. John JOKINGLY offered to include a tube of glue with his trade. That reminded me of the above hilarious scene from the comedy "Airplane", so I posted it JOKINGLY insinuating that I was tempted to accept his JOKING offer. I thought all of that was obvious, and that it would make John and everybody else chuckle. Sorry for taking all the fun out of a joke by explaining it. <0|ɸ|0> -Joe- |

RE: How rare is the 35s Anniversary Edition?
Owning an 'ordinary' 35s, I am quite confident in my assumption that the Anniversary addition is the only 35s worth collecting...
So I could see it fetching a fair chunk of coin, once its ordinary brother is no longer in production. But since production is outsourced, despite today's HP bad news, that could take a while. |
