It is the only RPN programmable scientific calculator, it is officially admitted in some exams in the US, as PE and FE, so it has its own market niche.

Maybe it's the only HP RPN programmable but it's far from the only RPN programmable. SwissMicros has a whole line of them.

Thanks for your clarification.

It was very much needed.

Some reference to confirm it?

I misremembered lol. See this thread:

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
Aloha,

I'm poking this thread in case anyone has any definitive information regarding the disposition of future HP-35s's. I went ahead and bought one at the outrageous price from the guy who says his are from HP's last production run and I'm not overly excited about it, until I noticed that it has keys for inch and cm conversion. This is handy when looking at radio antenna lengths. Yes I know that's a lame excuse, but seriously, I gotta rationalize this disease somehow.

Anyway, if it comes back out or I could otherwise get another one for $50 or so like I could have 6 months ago, I'd get one. But realistically I need to get a DM41X. I recall when I first saw the rumors of that, and I *need* one. ;-)

Can’t help you, but I wanted to add that I love the quick conversions being on the keyboard like that.

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
SwissMicros might have an alternative to the HP 35s as they appear to be making an enhanced HP-32SII. See:

The (damned) day HP will discontinue the HP35S without releasing a new RPN programmable calculator, I shall simply use mine till the very last day.

On the Moravia-Page the 35s is no longer among the current models but is marked as "archive":
https://hpcalcs.com/products/

On Royal Consumer the 35s is no longer listed at all:

It's already happened. Manufacturing has stopped and only what's left in the pipeline is available.

Yes, Klaas Kuperus confirmed that the HP 35s, HP 10S+ and HP 300S+ were discontinued. This was on a Facebook posting back in Nov 29, 2021.

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
It's not a shame about the two "Casio calculators" because there are corresponding and better models from Casio itself, but it's a shame that the last scientific HP RPN calculator is gone.

It would be great if it didn't die at the age of 50, but if a successor came for the anniversary instead.

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
Discontinuation of the HP-35S is rather sad news. As a design engineer who uses it for the simpler stuff that is otherwise tedious working long hand, the equation writer and RPN programming makes short work of things. And after 40 years of RPN mode, I can't get used to algebraic mode. To me, the HP-35S is a robust, practical calculator. I just wish it had a USB port for storing programs and equations on a flash drive.

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
I just wanted to make it clear for anyone looking to replace a 35s, it is absolutely not in production.

Prices on eBay are $165 for a new in the box calculator. Wow. I have one still in the box and now I guess I won't be ordering one as a gift for a friend.

HP48GX, HP42s and DM42.

RE: HP-35S Discontinued?
Now that the HP35S is supposedly out of production (but still available on Amazon) I wonder if the Prime could be considered as a kind of successor, or a different cup of tea.

The only 35s models on Amazon are $185+.

The Prime is a successor to the 50G. A different line.

HP48GX, HP42s and DM42.

Well, in Italy we are lucky.

Still EUR. 89.99 as it ever was.

I didn't even think about checking other Amazon Country stores. Thanks! If you want one, you should definitely grab one while you can at a reasonable price.

USA and UK stores are out. I picked one up from Amazon.fr.

HP48GX, HP42s and DM42.

I prefer to use my current HP35S till the very last day.

in case of "after", I could try a Prime, but I wonder if it is suitable also for trivial math.

Nope, it's a successor along the lines of 38G/39G/40G

I never thought of this either, and I had to try it. From the italy store it includes a hard case for less than $1 more, so I ordered from there. significant shipping and the exchange rate, but at $113 that's way less than anyone on ebay. I don't really need it, but I can't pass up the opportunity plus seeing how it works to order something from Europe. And it is supposed to be here on the 7th. All quite amazing to me. I can also gouge someone on ebay if I don't want it.

I am actually a bit surprised I can't order one from China.

And I don't find the Prime to be all that much fun for trivial math. It's a far different beast. Completely different mindset and usage model.
