New battery for 82161a and 82162a
Hi!
I am very happy to play again with my HP 82161a cassette drive and HP 82162a thermal printer after a battery change. I received yesterday from Amazon the new Sub-c 2000 mAh battery and everything is perfect! Marcel |

Close enough voltage, but would need to consider chargers & overcharging. As time went on I felt just stick with modern day NiCAD until they are no longer available/affordable. Hi,
NiCd are more robust, i have 20 years old fully working sub-c cells. They can often be reactivated when fully discharged. NiMh not. Because of the low inner resistance, the self-discharging is greater. Newer Nicd are not better in my experience. The hp charging circuits are very simple and are not optimized for NiMh. I modified my Hp82161 /162 charing circuit for more current, so the time to charge is simmilar to the old Nicd which have only half the capacity. And Nicd have an environmental problem, so I prefer Nimh. Ralf /41/48/ |
