Nice idea... Or would that simply use up my bandwidth twice as quickly? RE: HPCC and HHC announcement of online conference - mpark - 10-12-2020 03:12 PM Just wanted to say thanks and congratulations to the conference organizers for a successful event! And thank you Eric for cataloging the videos. (10-11-2020 10:35 PM)Eric Rechlin Wrote: You can also watch the individual talks as separate videos on my YouTube channel. These should have somewhat higher fidelity than the livestream, too: RE: HPCC and HHC announcement of online conference - Namir - 10-12-2020 05:17 PM Enjoyed the virtual conference. Was very convenient to be at home and listen to the many fine presentations. Of course, missed the in-person fellowship with the HHC members. I've no internet connection available that can support streaming so these YT vids are real gems! -Bill RE: HPCC and HHC announcement of online conference - pier4r - 10-14-2020 07:41 PM Are there any Conference contests? None this time, but as there were many comments about it, we are considering how to best include that in a future VHC (Virtual HP Conference) without distracting attendees from participating in the presentations to go work on the contest. For example, if such an event were split across 2 days, perhaps the contest would be issued at the end of day-1 and solutions to be submitted at the start of day-2, with winner announced at the end, so some similar arrangement. But 2-day conferences aren't likely any time soon, so this needs more thought... I can't see why a 2-day conference would be a problem. Pre-pandemic HHC conferences were mostly 2-day affairs and there were a fairly large number of participants for this one. There may not have been enough presenters to fill two days but the single day conference was quite long, and I like many others was not able to see everything in real time. In the event that physical conferences are still not practical for 2021 I can see a combination of HHC, HPCC and Alschwill having plenty of presentations for two lively days. I am hopeful that the pandemic will be under control by next fall but it would be wise to start making contingency plans as soon as possible. Besides, I really miss the programming contest! RE: HPCC and HHC announcement of online conference - EdS2 - 10-15-2020 03:08 PM A shorter session (for a 2 day conference) is also more time-zone friendly: not too late for EU and not too early for US. (Unfortunately the Pacific loses out a bit.) RE: HPCC and HHC announcement of online conference - ijabbott - 10-15-2020 07:59 PM How about running programming contests before the VHC and just announce the results during the VHC?
