(SR-51) Vector Program {key sequence}
An excerpt from Chapter 10/II - Methods of Study (1963-1976), Paleocurrents and Basin Analysis {second, corrected and updated edition}, Springer-Verlag, 1977, eISBN-13:978-3-642-61887-1, pages 392-394
" Computers and pocket calculators now remove most of the drudgery from the analysis of paleocurrent data, and now, and additionly, sedimentologists are much more familiar with a wide range of statistical techniques. The consequence ? Easy, quick, and sophisticated data analysis. ps: typos and all … … The following is a routine for the Texas Instruments SR-51 " pg.392 [attachment=10391] BEST! SlideRule |

By reading further, SR-52 and HP-65 (Hewlitt again !) appears on the same level. Thank you for these little finds. Keep you safe ! Laurent |

Hello!

Yes, it's basically a terminal with a second processor (Z-80) so that it can be used as a standalone computer running CP/M. It is from the early 1980ies, so several years younger than the TI SR-51 and the other calculators mentioned in the article. I wonder why he mixes such different tools in his text? Regards Max |

I immediately assumed he meant HP-25 and "125" was just a typo, as in the article he calls them both "electronic hand calculators" and goes on to say "...both mean and vector strength... can be calculated easily in the field, if so desired." The HP-125 can't be considered in any way handheld or easily used in the field. What's interesting is when he mentions at the end that the SR-52 and HP-65 are "completely programmable" it appears he missed that the HP-25 could be programmed as well. --Bob Prosperi |
