I have a couple of redundant iPhones (iPhone 4, 5s and 7 SE - is there a way to get rid of all the apps and have only one app, namely Thomas’ Free42 which auto loads when the phone is switched on?

You cannot easily delete all of the native iPhone apps but you really don't have to. If you don't want to look at all of the apps on the home screen that you can't delete, just move them into one or more folders. Even that is unnecessary. The best way to get what you want is to open the Free42 app and never exit it. Then leave the phone permanently on and plug it into a charger when not in use (or at night). In this way Free42 will always be loaded and instantly ready whenever you wake the phone. You can also get rid of any passwords to make waking it faster.
