RE: 50g screen issue
I have a 50g which would not start when ON was pressed - only a short blink of the screen was visible. When pressing down in the area between screen and keyboard it worked.
HP 48 users know this phenomenon quite well ... The HP50g can be opened with relative ease (knowing that you have to remove the clear plastic display cover with a suction cup to remove two screws). I placed a strip of self adhesive rubber foam (about 10 mm wide and 2 mm thick) across the back plate so that it exerts some mild pressure on the flexprint display cable. The back plate already has a narrow bar or ridge across, and obviously over the years this may flex a bit so that some pressure is lost. This fixed the problem of missing columns and the switch on failure for me. |
