Since there seems to be some extension ports on the CL-32 device, then maybe (I'm just speculating now) a similar Pico device could be connected and emulate HP-IL over USB.

Again, I have not looked into it, I was just curious when I saw the form factor of this device, so I don't know if it is realistic or not.
But if someone says it can't be done, then that is usually a strong motivation factor for me ...
