Wow! I couldn't imagine that shift and shift-hold could be easily confused! I guess I'm much slower than you in typing on calculators…

I think it's better if mathematical symbols are not moved on the keyboard. That's the reason why I thought about the shift-hold access for subscripts and superscripts, but if you want that shift and shift-hold make the same thing, then my suggestion is not valid.
