Quite true.

I currently have three calculators at work:
1. HP Prime G2
2. HP 28s
3. HP 39GS, it was so cheap I couldn’t resist getting it. Fortunately there is an RPN applet on hpcalc.org that works really well.

Hopefully I will soon rotate the HP-28s out for an HP-48G+, provided the postal worker strike in Canada is resolved or my package is lucky!

Try CC41!

RE: Top three calculators ?
Thank you, Craig B. for mentioning the RPN applet for the 39gs. I have really come to like the calculator but wished it had an RPN mode and now, thanks to you and especially to Andres Capdevila, it does!

I doesn't have any calculators on my Top 3, but I have tested the emulators of these calculators to make my decision:

3- HP Prime
4- Casio Classwiz (fx-991EX)
5- Ti-Nspire
6- HP 30b
7- Casio Classpad 300
8- Ti-84 Plus CSE
9- Ti Voyage 300
10- Sharp EL W506C.

RE: Top three calculators ?
There was a good quote on the online photographer:
"I've always said that the really intuitive interface is the one you've been using for five years."

I don't see how anyone can use an emulator for a short period of time and make a judgement on a calculator.

I wish I could take my Prime to work, but it is too smart. My HP-71 technically breaks the rules, but I use it anyway.

So my favorite is the Prime, but I use the 71 more.

RE: Top three calculators ?
These are the 3 machines I use (almost daily):

- i41CX+ on my iPad and iPhone (to paraphrase Steve Jobs "the best calculator is the one you have with you all the time"); the HP82143 printer emulator is excellent and combined with the build-in GPS functions lets you do incredible things (e.g. showing off a 'speed/time-graph' to a colleague on the Eurostar to London @ 300 km/h)

- HP-41CX with PANAME+3421 CONTROL ROM (@home on my workbench controlling all my equipment via HP-IL/HP-IB), sadly my CCD ROM fights with the PANAME over ROM ID#9 --> soon to be solved by my 41CL when I find the time

- HP-16C (for easy HEX and BIN conversions)

I own(ed) most of the HP Calculators and others like Ti59+PC100, but since I'm addicted to RPN and don't need graphing machines, I always find myself going back to the 3 above ...

PS: that doesn't mean I don't get my old 32E, 11C, 71B or 48SX, ... out of the closet once in a while for a test drive !

regards,

GVHOVE

RE: Top three calculators ?
1) was HP48G, now I am waiting for a 50G as a replacement

- ultimate scientific/engineering calculator (for it's time)
- probably one of the best keyboard layouts
- very good keyboard and built quality

2) HP35S

- excellent keyboard layout and physical appearance (this is why I use it and because very few new RPN calculators are available)
- reasonable keyboard and built quality (for it's time, far from original HP quality)
- limited two line display with some alphanumeric capabilities
- some minor bugs
- nice solver and equation writer
- very limited support for imaginary variables and vectors
- RPN programmability and lot of memory, but no I/O capabilities

3) Droid48 on Android

- too small keyboard for common Android phones
- does not fully emulate 48G

RE: Top three calculators ?
Hello,

my top three calculators are:

1 - HP 67 ... I used it more or less daily, although i tried the iPhone version
2 - HP 71b ... for little programs, statistics ... on my desk
3 - HP 15C ... if the HP 67 is to big to carry

best regards

Could you share that program? With the necessary modifications, that could make a cool Free42 demo as well.

Thanks. Just tried emu48 on Android 8.0

There seems not to be much difference between the keyboard layout sizes within those skins I tested, as far I can see.

Perhaps the emulators might be most comfortable to use when installed on a larger device which is closer to the original 48G physical size, Samsung Note or similar.

I tested it just half an hour and haven't made any conclusions so far. ( I am not an expert. Probably I did something wrong since the emulator disappers always after I change the emulator settings.)

Nice to have more 48 emulators on Android!

BR JSS
