HP "PROFESSIONAL CALCULATORS" Backpack
Just bought this from TAS. I have never seen one. Can anybody share why this was produced. It has a picture of a 41C on it, so it could have been a giveaway at a trade show.

Anybody know when and where?

John

RE: HP "PROFESSIONAL CALCULATORS" Backpack
I can perhaps date it. The HP-41C was introduced in July of 1979. It was the flag bearer for the 41C series (actually the only one) until January of 1981, when the HP-41CV was introduced. After that date, HP promotional materials used images of both the -41C and -41CV, and would likely use the -41CV if just one image was used. So, this is likely from July of 1979 to December of 1980.

I saw that auction, and I thought about it for a while. I'm glad that someone who cares actually got it.

Thanks, Dan. I expect you are probably correct. They could have put CV on it instead of C if they wanted to (there is enough space.) In fact, it might even have coincided with the release of the 41C.

The back pack also has PROFESSIONAL CALCULATORS printed below the picture of the 41C. How times have changed.

Thanks, smp. I do love all things HP calculator. It is a very "inexpensive" back pack. I had never seen one in my 30 years of collecting HPs. I plan to bring it to the HHC in September, maybe someone there will have its pedigree.

Will those amazing feet at the bottom be there too? Big Grin

Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own.

Color my face red. I was so excited about the back pack that I did not crop the picture.

Yes, I plan to be there and therefore those feet will be too. I promise that they will have socks and shoes on them.
