RE: For Sale HP-97 Test-Bench
Does the card reader work? Any keys lack the expected key snap? Do all the LED segments work fine?
Thanks, Namir |

RE: For Sale HP-97 Test-Bench
Please forgive me, but what's the difference to a usual HP-97 calculator? Why do you call it a 'HP-97 Test-Bench'? TIA for enlightenment.

Thanks for the reply posted by Thomas and Sylvain. Walter, the only valid reason to install the sockets for all the chip in a calculator, is to permit at the owner to test all the component without stress the PCB and the chip with too much heat from the solder iron, but primarily is to test the components on a machine certainly functional. In this HP-97, you can test: ACT (1820-1596) from: HP 21,22,25,25C 29C,19C,67,91,92,95C,97 AND 97S; ACT (1820-1952) from: HP 19C, 97,97S; CRC (1820-1751) from: HP 67, 97,97S; PIK (1820-1680) from: HP 19C, 97,97S; CATHODE DRIVER (1820-1629) from: HP 19C, 91, 92, 95C, 97 and 97S; RAM/ROM (1818-0226, 1818-0228, 1818-0550,1818-0551) from HP 67,97,97S; MOTOR SPEED CNTRL (1810-0236) from: HP 10A,19C,91,92,95C,97 and 97S. SENSE AMPL. (1826-0322) from: HP 67, 97, 97S and HP-82104A (HP-41 CR) I believe that may be useful, or not? Regards Ignazio |

RE: For Sale HP-97 Test-Bench
I also have a 97 with all the chips on the main board socketed it was very helpful in troubleshooting a 67, it allowed me to isolate the failure down to one of two ROMs, and I also used it to verify the chips in a 97 I repaired for another gentleman recently. While testing the chips for the 97 I also verified that the PIK in my test 97 is indeed flakey, it does not print properly until the calculator has been on for about 10 mins.
