WTB: Battery contacts HP82240 printer
Hi,

I am looking for the battery contacts used in the HP 82240A/B printers.
Leaking batteries corroded some of these contacts in my printer.

Thanks in advance, Kees

RE: WTB: Battery contacts HP82240 printer
Kees,
I had this problem with my HP-97. It has the same size printer bay as the HP-41 printer and takes the same battery pack as the printer.
Now being the World's worst soldering person, I asked a friend to look at it.
He came up with the solution of cutting a replacement from an ordinary tin can - this had the required "springy" function but not the best at staying soldered.
Then he found one of those big square batteries which some of us of a certain age will remember being used to drive Xmas tree lights. This battery(I think made by EverReady) ) was totally dead but still had the spring copper terminals. He took one of these, bent it to shape and hey presto!
You can buy tinned copper lengths on the Web but some have a minimum order of 1 tonne!

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your reply.

I am looking for the original battery contacts. Your proposal is plan b.
In the past I rebuild contacts by reshaping contacts from other battery holders,
but the result was never great. Luckily the battery contacts are never visible from the outside, when the battery holder is closed. ;-)

Regards, Kees

Hi Ignazio,

Thanks for your reply, but the HP 82240A/B is supplied by 4 standard AA batteries.
(Not the rechargeable battery pack HP 82033A, used by the HP 97 and the
HP 82143A printer.)
