I don't know what a "rep button" is, but I can tell you what the button with the green plus does: When replying to a post it allows quoting multiple posts in the same reply.

Try it: log in, press this button below one post and the "quote" button below another one. Both posts will be quoted in the message editor. You can now delete the irrelevant parts and keep the desired quote portions from both posts.

Add that to 97,000 posts (as of this writing) made to the new forum, and around 230,000 posts made to comp.sys.hp48 that I have archived, and that's half a million posts about HP calculators!

Dave Hicks, if you are interested in using anything I put together, just let me know and I'll send you whatever you want.

Eventually, I will, but it's more of a work in progress at this point, so I've just been linking it from here so far, in the hopes of getting some feedback first (though admittedly I've gotten little feedback). I don't even have a link to the restored forum from the main archives page yet at present, because I'm not yet sure if it's "ready for production".

The static pages on my site are all available via torrent, so all the data can be backed up by anyone who downloads the torrent. I suppose it might be a good idea for me to give a copy of the PHP and a dump of the database to someone trusted, though, just in case I get hit by a bus or something. But otherwise I intend to keep my site running indefinitely. I've got the annual cost down below $400 now, so I can just absorb that even after I cease operations of my commerce site.

To make the forum archive even more complete, I have now downloaded and rehosted all embedded images, where still available, from the posts. Most of the images were surprisingly still online, but a couple thousand were dead links. For each one of these I checked on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to attempt to retrieve the images, and I was able to get back about a quarter of them.

This means approximately 1500 images linked from posts may well be gone forever. I have attached to this message the list, in case anyone can help find them, but I am not optimistic that any more can be resolved.

I have also created an offline-browseable version of the forum archive, in approximately the same format as my newsgroup and mailing list archives. This is available on my torrents page for downloading. It will also be included on the HHC 2018 USB drive.

Thanks again for the help. I've removed from the list all those that I have resolved so far (86 images and counting), as well as those where I have contacted the person responsible (about another 900). I've also added for each the URL where the image is missing, as requested.

Unfortunately I've already received a number of responses to the negative, so many of the images I've removed from the list are gone for good.

Also, there is unfortunately no point to linking to the contact pages on the old forum. All the contact links have been disabled.

You do, I hope, still list those images? Someone somewhere may have a copy, in a browser cache or a download folder.
