HP 11C or HP 15C on Professional Engineering Exam?

They've probably standardized on a few admissible models regardless of other considerations, just to make it easier and faster to screen out the allowed ones at the time of the exam. Just saying ... (IMHO, the HP-15C would be an ideal calc for that exam).

Indeed, the people admitting students and checking the calculators carried-in are probably much older than the youngest HP-15C*, and the body that evaluates such things would probably never consider a 38-year old model - "certainly such an 'old design' would not be useful today?" Hmpf!

* - And before anyone asks what about the 15CLE, the same thoughts apply to copies of a 38-year old design, even copies with bugs.

Still, it's a good opportunity to familiarize oneself with the permitted calculators. The more, the merrier!

The only HP calculators that NCEES allows are the HP33s and HP35s.

I took the EIT (now FE) exam in 1982 and used my red LED 34c. :-)

I don't recall needing to use it much during the exam.
