(41CL) backup RAM to computer over serial port
Having recently done my first flash update over the serial port, using Sylvain & Monte's excellent tools, and discussing Ángel's possible updates to YWALL to allow backup of RAM to flash on the V5 board, I wondered…
Is it feasible to backup RAM pages 0x800 & 0x804 over the serial port to a PC, using YEXP, and subsequently use YIMP to successfully restore the state? Flash backup is convenient, and covers most cases, but doesn't cover loss or damage of the 41CL itself. e.g. I drop it, or lose it, in the pub. I have just ordered a PIL-Box from Jean-Francois, and am now looking for an HP-IL module & cable, which will give me another way to back things up, but is the above feasible? Might also be fun to write a few PC programs to extract/decode the contents of those backups, e.g. RPN registers, key assignments, files in extended memory, MMU registers etc. I'll have a go at that, too.
