Android: How can a. Hpprgm be downloaded?
I seem to recall that connectivity has been improved in a recent update.
Is it now possible to download a. Hpprgm into the Android VC?
If so, can someone remind me how? I usually cut-and-paste the source instead.
So far, I have the. Hpprgm in Android's download folder.

RE: Android: How can a. Hpprgm be downloaded?
It always was possible. The problem was the computer with the connkit being able to see the android device across the network.

What was added was another detection method (zeroconf deiscovery protocol) and the ability to type an ip address directly in on the HP prime app allowing you to specify the location of the connkit.

If you are on the same network and antivirus/firewall is not blocking your ability to connect, it should just show up. Go into the network connection screen and pick it. If it doesn't show up, type in your PC ip address into that screen.

Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own.

I have the hpprgm on the Android - no PC to hand.

So what you want ideally is some of the host side connectivity kit functionality built in to Android app? Enough to transfer programs and variables and maybe screenshots.

Yes, that would be ideal.
If the VC cannot read hpprgm files on Android directly a website that can turn a hpprgm into text would suffice - Given the PPL text, it can be cut-and-pasted.
Of course, being able to import screenshots too would be good.

If your Android phone is on WiFi on the same network in your house (or office) as your PC, usually the virtual Prime on the device will immediately see the ConnKit running on your PC.

1. Start the Connkit
2. Goto [Edit] [Preferences] and make sure all 4 IP Networking options are checked, and that the Network Name field has a name (I think it defaults to "HP_Classroom" but any name will do).
3. On the vPrime, do [Shift] [Settings], go to page-4
4. Touch the drop down link at the top and you should see your Network to pick. Touch it (e.g. touch HP_Classroom if the default was used) and [Enter] to confirm it, then [Esc] to exit Settings.

You should now see your vPrime connected in the ConnKit window.

It can't get much easier. Big Grin

"it can't get much easier"

Unfortunately I cannot do
1 Start the Connkit, Until I do
0 Buy a PC (or Repair broken PC Sad)
(updated: )
Easier would be
1 Run Calculator
2 Open hppgrm
Similar to how you can
1 Run PDF Reader
2 open pdf

I could access a library PC to move files to the Android if that helps (though I already downloaded the hpprgm to the Android) but that PC is unlikely to have a Connkit.

You're quite right, step 0 is essential, I missed that comment in your earlier post. Once you've got your PC back into service, the simple method noted will let you easily move files/programs in and out.

The PC is essential? That Virtual Calculator just got much heavier!

So far, I have the. Hpprgm in Android's download folder.

Ive found a way to do this on Android using a UTF capable editor called Quickedit by Rhythm Software. Free but with ads.

* Rename the .hpprgm to .txt

* Open in Quickedit

* Click on the 3 dots, select Encoding and select UTF-16LE

Now all characters should be correctly handled, select all but the first and last lines which are header and footer of the hpprgm file which we can discard, and paste into a new blank program in the Prime app.

Do a syntax check, it should be good!
Edit: This will work with any text editor that allows to select UTF-16LE encoding. Notepad++ works fine, as does the default texteditor invoked by My Files browser on my Samsung S8
