Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
July 16th.

50 years ago: Apollo 11 skyrockets to the the moon.
40 years ago: Hewlett Packard releases the definitive calculator.
...
10 years ago: Happy birthday, 41C!
5 years ago: Happy birthday 41C!

Let's see if the "Lotsa team" earned some points. :-)

Greetings,

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
On the low end of "several" with two: a 41C, purchased in 1979, in the week they were first sold in the Netherlands, and a 41CX, purchased in '83 or '84. Both were sold ages ago, the 41C to help finance the 41CX, and the 41CX when I got fed up with the calculator hobby and sold off all of them at once. That didn't last, and I got back into it with a couple of RPL machines, 28S and 48G, before settling on the 42S. I did create a small collection by buying a couple of vintage machines on eBay later (25, 67, 10C), but never got another 41. Maybe I'll fix that some day, if I stumble across a nice fullnut 41CX. Or a 41C, because let's face it, I would be buying it more because of nostalgia than for its functionality. Smile

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
Hi,

I've got 20 operative, one half in boxes with manuals, nearly all peripheric (many printers, mini-cassette recorders, card readers, barcode reader, modules, books, etc.) and a remarkable Hp41CV tall keys!! (I sold the other one)

+5 or 6 more, for parts/to be repaired.

Regards

Ignacio

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
I'm somewhere in the middle, all fully working machines:

2 x 41C TK, including my original 41 from early 1980 (I was late to the party)
1 x 41CV
4 x 41CX, including my original 41CX from '83
2 x 41CL (underneath 1 x 41C and 1 x 41CV)

But, more was spent on peripherals, ROMs, books, etc. than these machines.

Happy Birthday 41C; you didn't start it all, but expanded the game dramatically and led to a lot of fun and education.

Fabulous at forty ;-)

So next year it'll be the 41st. birthday, a real shame that nothing special is being programmed for such an event...

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
Currently in the "several" category.

I have one each of the 41C, 41CV and 41CX. The 41CV recently received a brain transplant and has been converted into a 41CL.

Don't know if that counts but I also own a credit card sized DM41 and two DM41L units from Swiss Micros.

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
If I recall correctly, the PPC club was meeting monthly at the clubhouse in southern California, and starting with the intro of the 41C on 7/16/1979, they switched to weekly and continued that way until the club's demise. In Philly, in my neck of the woods, our Philadelphia-area PPC chapter was meeting monthly and at our first meeting after the 41 was introduced, we convinced a local vendor to bring her stock of calcs, card readers and printers for sale. It was a good night, as she sold it all out :-)

Thanks ... lucky for me, my wife does not understand english, otherwise she will have post a comment more on the side of craziness.

LOL
Actually I need to find the time to fix the defective ones (12 machines) to see how many will go to the working machine side and how many will go to the part box to be used to restore other machines.
Then I will know if I need to buy only 5 new machines (or more) in order to reach the magic number of 41 working machines, assuming I take the challenge. Wink

Two - so answering 'one' is incorrect but 'several' seems a bit over-stated. :-)

RE: Once more: Happy birthday, HP 41C!
Just one: a 41CV. If you count the DM41, then two.
