Learning About the HP 48 - VHS Tape

I recently received and digitized a VHS training tape for the HP 48SX called "Learning About the HP 48".

What I am wondering about is copyright. I could upload this to YouTube but then have my account dinged if HP decides that the post infringes on their copyright. Considering that the HP 48SX and GX ROMs were released for use by the public, does anyone know if this includes related materials like VHS tapes? Is there someone to contact at HP if not? Should I just post it anyways because HP has demonstrated they don't care about such things?

As both these already host user guides and AURs for the 48 series, I would guess they have HPs blessing to do so. As this is essentially a user guide in video format, they could host it too?

In the future, I'd say it's best to explore permissions without commenting about it. Once saying you're checking in public, if you later come back and post it, it implies you got an OK, which an HP employee is never able to state officially. Even if HP really doesn't care about this (extremely likely in this case) allowing such behavior could be interpreted legally as being generally allowing use of copyrighted work, which could/would hurt HP in unrelated areas where it really does matter. And getting the legal department to allow use of this specific obscure item seems pretty unlikely and not worth the immense time and effort that would take.

In other words, see Commodore Hopper's advice directly above...

One look at that beautiful 48SX made me realize it was the last decent Calculator HP made!

Just that *mounted* logo (not printed) I believe was forgotten by the the time we had even the 48S, and then 48G/GX... as well as those beautiful key colours of the S/SX series,

if only the LCD was decent I'd use it as my main calculator today, but it isn't, so I'm stuck with the 50G (although a Black Screen 48GX would be quite acceptable).

But my opinion stands, that this was the end of an era!

PS. That picture of a 48SX has a suspiciously decent clear screen )))))

The black LCD from an HP-39 or -40 can be transplanted into the 48SX and that makes it easily the best looking HP machine you'll ever see; it's the same LCD used in the late 48GX machines. The same LCD is also in the HP-49g, but it would be wrong to take one of those from a working machine, whereas from a -39 or -40 is just fine with the RPN Gods...

No kidding! They (edit: I meant the 48SX, all with lousy-contrast blue screens) never looked like that...

Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video available. I enjoyed watching it - 48sx in hand - and it really renewed my interest in this calculator. I am now working my way through Wickes’s Insights books from their museum thumb drive and really learning a lot. Sometimes, you just need a little push.

Hello Chris,
thank you very much. Today I saw this VHS tape the first time in my life in a auction and search the web for it. And great luke, youtube have it because of you. Now I watch and learn with a HP-48SX in my hand. A great fun.
