Clear Cased HP-41CX
I just stumbled across this article about a clear cased HP-41CX. I know of other clear cased HP calculators (Keith Midson has a nice collection of them) but never saw such an HP-41 prototype. Interestingly, a clear cased infrared module is plugged in, however, it looks to be empty.
On the same web site you'll also find a clear cased 82240A thermal printer, really nice. Last but not least there is also an article about an HP 9100 prototype, however, I already posted that link some time ago, see here. |

It's quite strange that the photo provided by the museum shows the machine in an incredibly dirty state, covered with dirt, dust and grime that could easily by cleaned off. Often times museums sill not attempt to clean an old or really delicate artifact out of fear of damaging the item, but in this case, even a gentle brushing off would have improved its appearance. Pretty odd... --Bob Prosperi |

RE: Clear Cased HP-41CX
Keith,
This dialogue sent me back to your Flickr site and that is indeed an interesting collection!! I see you have the 1AAAA version of a Titan and the VER$ shows that old ROM, the IL as 1A and MTH 1A too. There are stories about the MATH originally being intended to be in the standard product, as opposed to an option, which makes me ask…. The math module in your device, is it built in or did you plug it in “for shows”? I know it can be built into the free slot with ROM & RAM, I have done it, but maybe there actually was a prototype which had it from R&D “labs” (10-13-2023 05:12 AM)kmidson Wrote: Hi Jurgen, |

RE: Clear Cased HP-41CX
Well, I do have some of these clear cases, too. @ Jürgen: You are always welcome.
By-the-way: I doubt that these are prototypes, I would ratherdeclare them as modded as most of them are standard units. |
