HP-48SX battery leakage and hourglass always on
Hi
this is mi first post here, so thank you to everybody that will take the time to read my post and may be answer. My old HP-48SX had a battery leakage that I have discovered right this morning. I've cleaned at my best the battery compartment form the salt and replaced the battery with three new and it works well as usual. The only nuisance is that the hourglass is still on. I mean the icon on the almost right top of the display that says that the calculator is busy. It is always on when the calculator is on. If I switch it off the whole display goes off. It has the same behaviour with the deep sleep keys. I think that the battery leakage damaged something, but before open the HP and put it at risk, I'd like some clou. The HP was stocked in my studio in vertical, along the long side: Code:
thank you very much again Paolo |

RE: HP-48SX battery leakage and hourglass always on
Hi,
You can try to do a hardware reset. The reset hole is under one of the top rubber feet. Remove the top rubber feet and you will see a hole. Look for the one with a lightly moulded "R" next to it, that is the reset hole. Carefully insert an unfolded paper clip into this hole until the calculator resets. See here: https://www.support.hp.com/us-en/document/bpia5166 Also try removing the batteries and short the top and bottom battery terminals to remove remaining charge, or leaving the calculator without a battery several days. Edit: please note that all of the above will result in loss of RAM contents -Bart |

Hi Bart
thank you for the quick response. I'll try it in the end. I'll wait some day more but I think in the end I've to try your solutions. |
