RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
(12-30-2019 05:37 PM)Ángel Martin Wrote: I can't help with the serial port, but the latest ROM versions can be downloaded from Monte's web site at this URL UPDATE: I am also seeing the same behavior on my DM41X Beta Unit. I have loaded the latest MOD Files from the SwissMicros site (AM_HP41_MOD_Files_200226) I have LIBRARY4.MOD loaded into Page 4 and OSX_BS4X-P7 loaded into Page 7 After executing the ROMLST function, all of my Shifted Key Assignments disappear and I get a bunch of new assignments where "ABS" has been assigned to various shifted keys. In my original post I thought there was a problem with the POWERCL_EXT Module. But, I don't have that installed on the DM41X so I am suspecting the OS X Module's implementation of ROMLST. Try this: XEQ CLKEYS CAT" 0 (CAT" 1 on older versions) Select "R" from the Menu CAT" 6 You will see a bunch of shifted key assignments that were not there before. Also, where can I find a current copy of the OSX Manual? TOS Library has Revision 4L - April 2014 Monte's site has Revision 4M - July 2014 What is the current revision as found in the (AM_HP41_MOD_Files_200226) version? The enhanced catalogs function differently than described in the 4L and 4M Manuals. |

RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
Here is what I have done:
1) Setup > Module > Active Modules: Unplugged All Modules 2) Setup > Modules > Manage Modules in Flash: Deleted All Modules Except the SM DM--41X and the Thermal Printer 3) Setup > Modules > Manage Modules in Flash: Import: LIBRARY4.MOD OSX_BS4X-P7.MOD Both are from the latest zip file from the DM41X download link on the SM web site. 4) Setup > Module > Active Modules: Plugged in the following: Thermal Printer Library#4 R.51 AMC OS/X Module - 4P7 -BS4 5) Test: CAT" 6 = NO KEYS CAT" 0 > R "Execute ROMLIST" CAT" 6 = ABS-35 ABS-43 ABS-64 |

RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
You are not the only one to have seen this, I've experienced this myself for several months, but never taken the tine to find a way to exactly reproduce it, as each new build seems to make it disappear, only to see it happen again in a few days. I have just seen it on Friday with the latest build, but am currently on vacation in Cancun, so did not have time yet to check source. I'll try your steps late today when I am back in the hotel. Thanks for the details.

RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
Bob,
Thank you for the reply. this is also happening on my 41CL so it is not exclusive to the DM41X. Also, When you go on vacation, LEAVE YOUR DAMN ELECTRONICS AT HOME! Don't reply to this crap till you get home. You go on vacation to escape these things for a while. Enjoy your vacation and thanks again for all your hard work on this. |

RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
I found a bug in ROMLST, it corrupts the shifted key assignments in some cases.
Will try to get it fixed in a couple of days. It's been there from day-1, thanks for digging it out from the heap. "To live or die by your own sword one must first learn to wield it aptly." |

Problem solved - use the attached LIBRARY#4 MOD file and report results.

We all relax in different ways, and as much as I've used and tested the 41X there has been darned little time to just play... Thanks to twoweims and massimo for testing and reporting the results allowing the bug to be more easily found. And now I know why I've only rarely seen this is as I rarely used the "R" feature in the enhanced OSX CAT-0. I'm glad different folks use these things differently. And of course thanks to Angel for OSX in the first place and for the rapid fix! So... now to decide: do I install the USB driver on my notebook here, update the LIB4 file and download, or just not use CAT-0-R for 5 more days... actually an easy vacation decision. Thanks guys. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: Disappearing Key Assignments
Enjoy your Vacation Bob.
I am so glad that I stumbled upon SwissMicros and bought a DM42 almost a year ago now. It has rekindled my interest in the old HP machines that I grew up with in college back in the 80's. I never dreamed that there were so many people interested in keeping this great old hardware alive. This is a great community here and over on the SwissMicros Forum. Thanks for making me feel welcome here and putting up with my stupid questions from time to time. BTW, We left on vacation the day after my DM41X arrived in the mail. I was forbidden to take it along. It looks like my wife has a similar skill set to yours! |
