Updated torrent of hpcalc.org for 2020
I have updated the torrent of my hpcalc.org web site as I do every year, so it is now current as of January 1, 2020. The torrent has my entire web site, including old versions of every program (normally only visible to logged-in users).
Right now I am only seeding it on my very slow (5 Mbps, thank you Comcast) home Internet connection, but after a few people start seeding it it should download faster. Regardless, this is the only way I support downloading my entire site, because using a web scraper puts excess load on my server. As always, my torrents, including this updated one, are on https://www.hpcalc.org/torrents/ |

RE: Updated torrent of hpcalc.org for 2020
Thank you for your effort in maintaining your archive! When I'm back home I'll start downloading it and once it has finished I'll update my http mirror.
Were there any other updated/added torrents since last January that I haven't updated yet? |

No, nothing else has been updated since 2018. Thanks for maintaining your mirror!

Hey, thanks Eric for maintaining the repo, it was very useful during my university years and my old 50g. Have you ever thought about migrating it? I don't know how much effort it requires now but, I remember thinking back then that it seemed like a lot of manual work. Almost as a joke, and trying to be as lazy as possible, I made a repo for some simple arduboy games (https://arduboy.ried.cl/) based on github (so, actually to submit, people just fork it and do pull requests to master https://github.com/eried/ArduboyCollection, and nobody pays hosting or anything). Just wondering. My website: ried.cl |

I'm not sure what you mean by migrating it, but if you mean moving it to github, no, I don't want to rehost it. I have a pretty good setup now. For close to 20 years, I've been running it with a PHP+MySQL back end, so updating programs is fairly easy. Here is an example screenshot of the interface I setup for updating files. Some fields are auto-generated. If I allowed people to directly add things, even with moderation it would be hopeless. When users submit something, it just sends me a specially-formatted email since I often have to redo a lot of it anyway. For example, I request that all contributions be in a Zip file but lots of people insist on sending me RARs so I have to recompress. I request GIF or PNG for the screenshot, but lots of people insist on sending me JPEGs which I can't use. And oftentimes the descriptions are poorly written or left out entirely, or there is no documentation included with the program as I request. |
