Look here on the 41CL site: http://systemyde.com/hp41/manuals.html Look in the 41CL Calculator Manual. Pages 49-59 list all the ROMs in the 41CL. I've always taken that list as the definitive list. I've not counted them, though. smp Oops! Sorry for the duplicate information. I didn't see the post by mfleming because of the page break. |

I'm particularly intrigued by the one titled BASIC. I'm always on the lookout for BASIC interpreters/compilers for various systems. I don't know if that BASIC ROM is actually a version of BASIC, though, without the manual or QRG for it. Tom L Cui bono? |

I'm always on the lookout for BASIC interpreters/compilers for various systems. I don't know if that BASIC ROM is actually a version of BASIC, though, without the manual or QRG for it. Most of the 3rd-party ROMs do not have any documentation; the vast majority come from users that have found or purchased 41's with modules inside, and either donated them to folks that know how (or got procedures on how to do it themselves) and they extracted the ROM images. Monte has been collecting them to add to the 41CL Flash library and has become somewhat of a clearing house of the latest versions. Note that the 41CL uses modules in the *.rom format, while the 41X uses modules in the *.mod file format. For simple, 4K, 1-bank modules, a .rom file can be easily converted to a .mod file, but for complex, multi-page modules you need to use more sophisticated tools like the excellent MLDL2K tools. But if you need some of those, ask here first as there's a good chance someone has already built that first. All that said, TOS and here in these forums are the best places to look for documentation for these 3rd-party modules, but if you still can't find it after looking, I'd suggest creating a new thread specific to that module here in the "Not Quite..." Also, look at Matthias' amazing 41 ROM Module database: Not all of these are available from public resources, but if you find one you really want to check out, you could post a request here as well: http://www.hp-collection.org/41database.html --Bob Prosperi |

My notes on the BASIC ROM are sketchy but here's the main content:

I suspect they number in the hundreds but it would be nice to see a list in one place so I could decide which ones to download to fit my usage of the 41X. The URL below points to a ZIP file with the most recent versions of my modules - plus a few extras: http://www.swissmicros.com/dm41x/fat/ Generally speaking the MOD files on that zip archive are identical to those found on TOS and other sources (pls. mind the revisions and release dates). I don't remember having to modify them for the DM41X, so they should all be 100% compatible (famous last words...) . Do report incidences if you run into some. Remarks: Most of the advanced modules use the LIBRARY #4 ROM. Make sure you always load that one/. Some have different versions depending on the page# to plug it in. - If you don't use the printer page#6 is available for the AMC_OS/X and HEPAX_4F to use. - page #7 is also available (no HP-IL folks), so those two above and the WARP_Core can be safely plugged in it as well. Enjoy, ÁM "To live or die by your own sword one must first learn to wield it aptly." |

Nice shot!!
The lighting is just right to make the ZenROM overlay look like it's glowing. Is the BlankNut also a HalfNut? What about: A Tall-Keys machine A DM41L A 41Y A 41W A CL (can't tell, is the upper left machine a CL, label is hard to see) We could ask Sylvain to show us his 41 family photos, but I understand the MoHPC web-host has requested us to not use bandwidth excessively... --Bob Prosperi |

RE: DM41X
Interesting! The TK CV must be a frankencalc, right? I'm pretty sure production switched from TK to normal before CV production began, right?
Actually I find the DM41L to be much more interesting than I expected. It's soo different from a normal 41, it's like exploring an entirely new machine. It is very interesting. It is not a 41. I agree the V and W are intriguing, but cost FAR more than I would ever pay. But rare is like that... Yes, July is coming and I hope the 41X will introduce the 41C to a bunch of new users on its 41st birthday. --Bob Prosperi |

I'd recommend reading "Calendrical Calculations" by E. M. Reingold & N. Dershowitz. It contains some amazing details but not a lot relevant to modern date/time computations.
