Yes, I have to agree with you on this.

Me too!! By far the hardest key to get used to, but no better choices available... as we've beat to death. But still, it's annoying.

This is the settings page.
CONT: Display contrast
BKLT: Display backlight (9 levels + off)
BEEP: (ON/OFF) Audible feedback, when pressing a button
SPEED: Simulation speed (Normal, fast, Max)
SHOW: Show Y and/or Z Registers
12/24: Time format
And on the right side the set the time and date.

Pressing ENTER key moves to the next field, and pressing the + or - keys increments or decrements value. ON key exits.

It is a minimal design due to lack of memory.

What do you think?

I think - if those work as descruibed, then good enough and move on to the actual emulation and implementation of the virtual 41, etc. Some folks may comment with minutia about 'better' ways to implement these settings, but IMHO that can always be done later.

Don't waste cycles in the early stages on stuff like this, spend them on the product core. Later, either these will either have proved good enough, or proven annoyingly wrong, but at that point it will be pretty clear.

Good luck!

Looks good to me, I agree this can always be tweaked later on but your initial take is good. I'm curious about the display usage though, will it show multiple program steps as well?

"will it show multiple program steps as well?"

Not likely. I am running out of memory.

3d printed case. Size comparison with DM-41L.
They are practically the same height.

Any suggestions on how to label the keys?

Don't label the keys: call it "whitenut".

Wink

For the true 41 aficionado, who should know where the keys are... Wink

Nicely done, although I'd prefer the display window square, i.e. without round corners. There's no accounting for taste, of course...

Oh! A case too!
I was worried about getting my fingers caught between the buttons.

Looks cool!

For my own DIY calculator I've used the transparent sticker film that is printable with the laser printer. My brand is "Printation Mat Transparent" that you can find on Amazon, but I believe there lots of them.
