I decided not to modify the original display format and instead display the "decoded" key on the header. The time is shifted left so that the key names could be shown.
Also, the date is removed and the low battery indicator was changed to a Battery icon.

Great job agarza! Really great. I am impressed!

Any way to have a "toggle mode" one showing opcode in the main window and alpha in upper zone and toggling with alpha in main and opcodes in upper zone?

Next week there should be kits available for the HP15c and HP16c. (you can load either firmware, the only difference is the key names on the PCB)

Is it delivered "bare" as is shown there, or with the white 3D printed box and film keypad shown on the picture on page 2 of this discussion?

It is delivered "bare". (All parts except the 3d case)

The 3d printed case files can be downloaded from thingverse.

The 3d case was modeled using FreeCAD. And you can modify the source to suit your needs.

You can print the key overlay on acetate sheets (the ones used for overhead projectors) or on vinyl stickers.

Really love this! Ordered the 16c. Is the emulator open source?

I'm a sucker for solder-yourself calculators and put in an order for your 41c kit.

I might be interested in paying someone for the 3d printed enclosure although that bright red PCB looks really cool.

It will be, once I clean up the code.

RE: Hardware Voyager Emulator
Ordered a PX-41C one week ago, just got it today. Been playing with synthetic programming and doing mcode for fun.

Decided to add a reset button extension so don’t have to open case to hit reset.

OS version is 0.83

What’s the master clear key? ON + <- does not work…!!?

LCD backlit is great, thank you so much.

The master clear (ON DEL) is broken on v0.83.
V0.841 has it fixed, you can download it here.

How is it performing?

RE: Hardware Voyager Emulator
What a great kit! It's very easy to solder together. Placement of the components with spacing between them means it's simple to reach every terminal and wire on the opposite side of the pcb. Great choices for display (configurable backlight!) and buttons. I also think it's priced well especially considering that you can run three different emulators on the same board if you {edit} get an AVR cable {/edit}. Sorry, just realizing my error in saying it was a serial port.

related: I found cheap AVR cables at a place called banggood.com but I might be waiting a long time to get mine.

RE: Hardware Voyager Emulator
I have managed to fit two calculators in one.

You can switch between the 16c and the 11c.
Memory and programs are preserved.

Now the challenge is how to make easy/cheap overlays.

If anyone is interested in testing it please contact me.

Is it really the case that the 41er copies the terrible keyboard layout from the swissmicros dm41(L) instead of an "classic" HP layout?

Only the OP can answer, but IMHO, it makes more sense to have 2 layouts the same, even in terrible, than to have one terrible one and another that is different, but only a tiny bit less terrible. The 41 keyboard is simply not not well suited for a landscape layout.

Give it a try (making a 'good' 41 landscape layout) if you think you can make a big improvement. The community would probably love it, but a lot of folks have spent a lot of time trying...

Just a first try. As a blueprint for a Classic in a horizontal case, I would take the route from the HP-67 to the HP-97 and consider the "typical" Voyager for the key arrangement.

I think the voyager variant has more charm then this one. Like in the posts of Ángel Martin and Sylvain Cote I have also a bit trouble with the key-layout of the DM41X (my personal problem-keys are r/s and rtn).
In my opinion a new layout should lean on an existing one instead of creating more confusion. The more intuitive the better.
