Module Dependency
Hi,
In the ADVANTAGE MATH PAC Manual, I read the following, which I do not understand.

“As mentioned, you should have the 41Z, the SandMath and the SandMatrix plugged in the calculator. They will use 6 pages of the I/O bus, to add to the single page required by this ROM. This means that only one page will remain available in the external ports of the calculator, so use it judiciously – I strongly suggest the OS/X Module to be plugged as well, and if possible (i.e. without a printer) in page #6. The WARP Module in page#7 (or the Power-CL for CL owners) will round up the perfect set.
It comes without saying that the Library#4 is needed as well, as a pre-requisite for all the modules mentioned before. And lest we forget, the HP-41 CX is required (the X-Functions won’t cut it, sorry).”

My knowledge is probably lacking many things when it comes to the 41CL, but I don’t understand how this is possible.
I have YFNX plugged into 1L, SM44 plug into 2, SMTI plugged into 3, and 411Z plugged into 4. Also Library 4 is plugged with ALPHA 804040-8120 ALPHA —> YPOKE.
I can plug ADVG into the last remaining half port “1U”, where and/or how am I supposed to plug WARP OS/X, and PWRX, as suggested?

Thanks

RE: Module Dependency
PWRX isn't suggested at all.

on a 41CL, OS/X and WARP ROM files can be loaded into Pages-6 and -7 respectively. Typically, these pages are reserved for use with HP-IL and/or the Printer, however if those are not needed, these pages can be used just like any others. They don't have traditional physical "Port" access, but on the 41CL, that's not needed, so you can load them with the normal page loading commands into these otherwise empty pages.

On V41 or the DM41X, there are special .mod file versions of these files which can be loaded into these ports.

I meant PWRL.

Ok, I get it. So now I just need to plug ADVG into 1U, and OS/X and PWRL into page 6 and 7.
How do I do that? How do I access these 2 pages?

Thanks

YFNZ -> PLUGH & UPLUGH for page 7

41CL Extreme Functions Manual -> P.14 to P.19
YFNX -> PPLUG & PLUG for any page

Thank you Sylvain (again!)

Can I plug pretty much anything to these posts if I don’t plan on using HP-IL or a printer?

I’m amazed at how you guys have time to read all the material, all these manuals!

My pleasure.

Yep!

page 0, 1 & 2 is used by the 41OS

page 3 is unused on the 41C and 41CV
page 3 is used on the 41CX for the X-Function ROM

page 4 is the takeover page, used by the Diagnostic ROM or by specially crafted ROMs (ex.: Ángel Library 4)

page 5 is available on 41C and 41CV
page 5 is used on 41CX for the CX Time and CX-Functions

page 6 to 15 is available on all machine

but ...
page 4 is used when the 82160A HP-IL module is plugged in with printer disabled
page 6 is used when the 82143A thermal printer is plugged in
page 6 is used when the 82160A HP-IL module is plugged in with printer enabled
page 7 is used when the 82160A HP-IL module is plugged in
page 7 is used for YFNZ ROM on the 41CL when the MMU is disabled
Page 14 is used by the card reader when plugged in

Well, 41 years is a lot of time... I've been using 41s since early 1980 (and that's late to the party for a lot of the folks here... Wink )

As for the CL, which made it easy for the first time to access these pages on real 41 h/w, that has been around for about 10 years as well.

No need to try to learn it all at once, it's no fun that way, and besides, you really can't, there's far too much... but you're picking up a lot pretty quickly, so stay with it.

I’ve always used one since my college years in the mid 80’s, but honestly, pretty basically, I guess. I didn’t really have time to dig deep into the system and everything.

Thanks for the encouragements!! I’m trying to be more proficient.
