Installing emu48 on HP 50g question and others
Hi there,
Should anyone have any suggestions on the following three issues, I would appreciate it. 1. I am just being reacquainted with my HP 50g which I haven't used for a few years. I am trying to install emu48 for the HP 50g on my Windows 10 laptop. I downloaded the hp50gsemu48.zip file from Hpcalc.org website and I extracted the files into a separate folder. When I ran the emu48.exe file, I get the following error message from the installer: "This KML Script doesn't specify the ROM to use, or the ROM could not be loaded." The subfolder ROM and the two roms are there. Any suggestions on why I get this error message? 2. I am trying to remove the 1216 battery from my HP 48SX 128 KB memory card but I cannot remove the battery holder from the card. Any suggestions on how to do this? 3. When I reviewed some the manuals and books about the HP 48 calculator, the books use a dot matrix font to display the programs discussed. Is there any place on the web that I can download similar font to use with Windows 10 that is compatible with the emu48? |

RE: Installing emu48 on HP 50g question and others
The kml file isn't configured correctly for the ROM file. Edit 50g.kml. Change the global Rom from "ROM/ROM.49G" to either "ROM/ROM_209.50G" or "ROM/ROM_215.50G"

Check that line 6 reads: Code: Rom "ROM/ROM_209.50G" The "ROM/" prefix is important otherwise it will look in the current directory not the sub-directory. Second, check that the name of the ROM file is exactly the same as the file in the ROM subfolder. (Note: the version number may have increased beyond 209. ) If that doesn't fix it then report back and we can have another look. |

RE: Installing emu48 on HP 50g question and others
Thanks for those who responded to my post. I thought I had already checked my 50G.KML file to confirm that the correct ROM was referenced. As it turns out, I checked the 50GS.KML file by mistake, which does have the correct ROM, ROM_215.50G, referenced but the the 50G.KML did not. Having corrected the 50G.KML, the emulator now works properly. The person who uploaded the emu file on hpcalc.org should be notified so other users will not face the same problem. I noticed that the area of the calculator below the last row of buttons is not displayed on the screen. The picture of that part of the calculator extends beyond the screen. Is this normal? |

I just realized is that it that what is missing is the entire last row
of buttons on the calculator! Is this a problem with the KML file? |

Quote:RE: Installing emu48 on HP 50g question and others You may: a) Change the resolution of your screen. b) Hide your taskbar. or c) Get another kml script for the hp50g at hpcalc.org There is a landscape mode kml and others available. I hope this helps.
|

RE: Installing emu48 on HP 50g question and others
Regarding my last response about the missing last row of the calculator, the problem was with my windows settings. In the Display settings->Scale and Layout->Change the size of text, apps, and other items, the setting was at 350%. I am using Windows 10 at 3840x2160 resolution. Changing the setting to 300% solved the problem with the missing last row of buttons of the calculator.
