HP 27S
I would love to see the HP 27S brought back, even as an entry-level HP calculator. Increase the memory to 64,000 bytes, add a USB port, complex numbers, and the option to use either ALG or RPN.

RE: HP 27S
I second the motion!
The HP 27S had broad appeal and included sufficient scientific functions, along with a Get/Let Solver, to do real work. |

RE: HP 27S
I would also like bitwise logic operations in my HP-27S+.

RE: HP 27S
Agree -- it's a nifty calculator. Two things to make it better (probably others too) would be an RPN option, and a better display.

RE: HP 27S
I never had one. They go for about 120 on eBay these days.
From what I read a 32sii and a 27s side-by-side would be quite complementary both in functionality and aethetics. Jay Peng |

RE: HP 27S
17B-style equations are coming to Plus42 in a few days...

A bi-directional USB port and a substantial memory increase would be sweet. ALG or RPN modes and a quality keyboard are a must. Dave RPN rules! |

RE: HP 27S
I love reading the books by HP, Grapevine and Harvey about the HP-27 and trying out all of the examples directly on the real calculator. With a better display and a USB port for backups, this would be even more fun.

RE: HP 27S
Has anyone ever determined if the existing 27S memory could be expanded to 32K, same as the 42S? The pc board is identical so I would expect it would be trivial to do from a hardware perspective, the unknown is if the 27S firmware would support it. I don’t remember if it was ever attempted back when Paul Brogger got 32K working in the 42S. My memory is a bit fuzzy from so long ago, don’t see anything with a simple google search.

I would love a DO function for indefinite loops in the solver, e.g., DO(condition:expression:expression:...) where the expression(s) would be executed as long as the condition is true. The value returned by the DO() is the computed result of the last expression when the condition is false. Expanding the [PROB] menu to include normal, chi-squared, t and F distributions, along with their inverses, like on the 21S, would be very helpful. |
