Defining functions on Casio 991ES Plus and 115ES Plus

Hi all.

On the TI-36X Pro, 30X Pro MathPrint, and Sharp EL-W516X functions can be defined and used in other modes.


On the 115ES Plus and 991ES Plus, rather than writing out the function twice (one for f(x+h) and f(x)), is there a way to create the function and then just call that in an equation?

In other words, can I define a function, f(x), and then in an equation in the solver, just write the equation as (f(x+h)-f(x))/h?

No, you can't.

You can define f(x) and g(x) in table mode. And can make table with function value in given range. But f(x) and g(x) can be used only in table mode. None of the menu can use them(f(x), g(x)).

BTW on the newer model 570/991CW, you can define function f(x) and g(x) with function key and use them in a solver.

On the MathPrint, once a function is defined in table, one can access them from the work space, and use these functions in the work space. For a function defined in f(x), if one is in the work space and wants to integrate f(x) from 0 to 1, for example, from the work space, choose the integration operation, press table and pick #2. This will enter f(x. Complete the entry with ), making it f(x). Enter the range over which to integrate, and it will integrate the function that was defined in table #1 which is stored in table #2 as f(x). Pretty nice!
