HP 12C Original Box and packaging
Hi

Does anyone have an original 1981 version of the 12C?

I am looking for some reference on the original box and packaging please, if anyone could show some pictures?

Thank you

RE: HP 12C Original Box and packaging
Hello this one is from circa 1984. IIRC, The earlier box designs from 1981 were slightly thinner.
1981? White Carton w/purple squares 00012-80007 38mm in height
1984 Creme Carton w/purple squares 9211-3566 43mm in height (shown)
1985 Sleeve 5954-1323D "Green bow $15 rebate between Nov 6 and Dec 31 1985"
1987?-1992 Red Carton 00012-80010 38 mm in height
1987 Sleeve 5954-1442 (June 1987) "Buy an HP-12C Financial Calculator NOW and get paid $10"
1994? Yellow/Tan Carton
1998? Green Carton
1998? Upright Tan "sunset" carton
1999? Cobalt blister pack
2003? White blister pack
2008? Redesign Black paper/plastic pack

The sleeves have dates on them, but the other cartons, I'm inferring the dates from other photos I have.

RE: HP 12C Original Box and packaging
I have 2 different style boxes for the 15C: thinner 38mm boxes as well as the 43mm box.

For the 12c purple square boxes, I believe the thicker box is the original 1981 design to allow for the earlier spiral bound manuals, and the thinner one reduced in size due to the thinner perfect bound manuals.

For the Purple Square boxes, I believe the lighter /thinner color box is the original 1981 design, but I can be convinced otherwise.

(I also see the 15C came in thinner 38mm boxes as well as the 43mm box)

It's possible the thicker cartons are for the earlier spiral bound manuals, and the thinner one reduced in size due to the perfect bound manuals).

The earliest Voyager boxes used black for the model number, switching to using the same color for the text as the squares later (the first of a lonnng list of cost-cutting changes, 2-color -> 1 color).

Thank you Allen and Bob for your replies,

This helps me a lot with tracking the various 12C variation's for my collection, especially in the early revisions that I am currently missing.

If you have a scanner, I would absolutely love to get high-resolution scans of all six sides of the early box, or failing that, high-resolution photos. Thanks!
