I got a very sweet deal on a HP71B from a member here but it came without a case. There is an original on TAS but at 74$ plus import duties and fees it exceeds my threshold for "useful household acquisitions".

Is anyone aware of a suitably large but still snugly fitting new case?

I have one of these handmade leather cases and can happily recommend it, it is beautiful and reeks of quality.

At the other end of the spectrum, i.e. more functional (solid/great protection) than good-looking and somewhat cheaper is this plastic case:

Thanks for the recommendations, I ordered a leather cases. While they're almost as expensive as a used original case, they seem to be of superior quality. As I am not obsessed about a "like new in box with original accessories" collection I figured I'd go for the nicer look.

Totally agree. I have bought two cases and I find it way better than the original soft case.

These cases do look nice.

What is the inside like? Is it soft or just the back of the leather?

How good a fit is it? Will the 71b move around much/at all?

Is this actually leather? The description says:

Made of genuine cowhide vegetable/vegetable leather.

The description goes onto say leather several times. What is "vegetable leather"? Ah, vegetable-tanned, perhaps?
