(05-03-2023 10:28 PM)BruceH Wrote: FWIW, key legend wear is highly dependent on the user. I knew one HP95LX user who completely wore off the shift key markings in 18 months. And I mean *completely* - there was no sign the keys had ever had a label on them. I can only assume he had sandpaper for skin and sweat only mildly less acidic than the creature from 'Alien'. That device has a computer style keyboard you will most certainly type on rapidly and use similarly to a full sized computer keyboard, which will invoke more damage on printed keys than even a heavily used calculator. With that said, if the keys had been double-shot, even that heavy usage would not have made the key labels vanish over time, which is the point. I purchased a Matias brand computer keyboard in 2017 and by 2019 the printing had worn completely away on several keys. I had never experienced that before, thus proving I am not hard on my keyboards. Indeed, I obtained free replacement keys from the manufacturer, only to have the markings on those replacements wear off in a few short months. I mention this only to say that it is not merely dependent on the user, but the QUALITY OF PRINTING as well. I will never buy another Matias keyboard again. Again, I don't want to be the lone sourpuss here, nor do I wish to diminish the excitement over the 15c CE release. I think it's great, and I hope for a 16c CE too. But I also hope the printed keys are pretty darned good (and not designed by Matias) so many of us with actual finger oil can use the calculator frequently without fear it will not longer be "collectible" worthy in a year due to printed markings wearing off. |

Australian VAT at 10% will then be added on top. Calculator Clique on YouTube |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Are there any details of the CE hardware spec and how it differs from the LE? I'm guessing it's arm based and the fixes could be retrofitted to the LE should Movaria see fit to do so...it would be a nice gesture to make those devices bug free after 12 years of waiting..
Of course that would possibly reduce sales a tad but I suspect most enthusiasts will still buy both |

The HP-15C LE was based on the Atmel AT91SAM7L128 (ARM7) CPU that was used in the HP-12C variant at the time (2008 - May 2015). The HP-15C CE is likely based on the Microchip ATSAM4LC2CA (ARM Cortex-M4) CPU that is used on the current HP-12C variant (May 2015 - present). http://www.brouhaha.com/~eric/hpcalc/voy...iants.html |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I regularly wear out the printing on my computer keyboards--the one I'm typing on right now, in fact--but they keys are still fine on my 15C LE, which I use daily, though not '80s engineer style. So I'm guessing these will be fine for me.
Tempted to order now but I guess I'll wait for US availability. |

As mentioned on their site: "Select "Reserve Unit" as payment method to delay payment until delivery - you'll be contacted before shipment." |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
this 15c seems beautiful and interesting.
The original one was/is my favorite HP. But I am not a collectioner. Compared to the SM DM15L, it lacks the ability to make a backup/restore with the USB port. Comparison is not fair, some could say... I have not yet decided. --- HP 48GX, Prime G2, 50G, 28S, 15c CE. SwissMicros DM42, DM15L A long time ago : 11C, 15C, 28C. |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
How does it compare to the limited edition from 2011, apart from bug fixes?
edit: Apparently the CE version is a bit faster than the LE version. At least according to the infos from this thread: https://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-19896.html |
