RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
One more data point.
Mine has a section of the keyboard that is a little bouncy. Keys 9, 6, x, and division: all in the upper right hand corner. I found that I can usually avoid it by how I physically press the keys. I've been dealing with so many other more important issues lately (and, all keys have such crisp clickiness, which I love), so I decided to just live with it. But it's definitely not as good as it should be, and I do have to be careful in a way that is not needed with any of my other HP's. Daily drivers: 15c, 32sII, 35s, 41cx, 48g, WP 34s/31s. Favorite: 16c. Latest: 15ce, 48s, 50g. Gateway drug: 28s found in yard sale ~2009. |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I agree with John, but in mine happens from time to time in some numbers 2, 5, 6,... if I press them firmly the problem disappears so for me it's not worth to have it replaced but I'm not in that statistics.

In the first six months, the seller is liable (via "product liability") for the perfect functioning of the purchased goods. In practice, this means that the seller usually replaces the product without asking any questions. After six months, the buyer would have to prove that the fault existed at the time of purchase (how?). Here, a different mechanism often (not always) applies. Many manufacturers grant a voluntary "guarantee" in addition to product liability. The conditions are defined by each manufacturer as they see fit. In practice, there is another variant, especially with the large mail-order companies (Amaz... etc.): defective devices are exchanged without complaint up to 24 months after purchase. This happened to me with a high-end smartphone made in South Korea three days before the 24 months expired (I got my money back). Best, Hans |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
You can add me to the list of those who have a little trouble with bouncing off a key. Only one: √x, and quite rarely. But I have the impression that it's disappearing with the break-in.

"Breaking in" hasn't worked for mine yet. And it's basically all the keys that suffer from occasional bounces. Maybe one key press in 30 or 40 will bounce. Very annoying. — Ian Abbott |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I just learned about the 15C CEd and (gulp!) got ready to jump.
Hpofficesupply.com has stock, but is quoting $24+ in shipping (or over $100 for “overnight”!!! To a major metro area in Texas, mind you—nope, I’ve *never* been a TI guy, thanks for asking! I have training in logic and love RPN). I enjoy HP calculators and all, have dozens I have bought over decades, but I’m not rich and somehow >$24 shipping seems… excessive. Any coupons or tips on how not to get ripped off?! Other authorized US dealers selling at retail price? May as well ask… thanks in advance. SN |

Take a look at commerce.hpcalc.com.
The site is run by Eric Rechlin, an archivist and supporter of the community. I just ordered from him, to thank him for his efforts. Not sure if the total cost was much different, though. |

Thanks! It ended up being a little cheaper from Eric, and I’d much rather buy from him anyway.

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Hi
I have not seen this question covered but I apologise if it has already been asked before, Is it known how many HP 15C Collectors Edition Calculators are being produced? I can remember when the 30th anniversary edition of the 12C was produced it had a production run of 50,000 units, so I assume the 15C will have a similar run. |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I just got mine this evening! The key feel is very good - different from an original 15C, but not inherently better or worse, just different (but I would be so bold as to say the Enter key feels better than the original). Key response seems good so far. I have been able to elicit some bounce from a couple of keys, but only by pressing them weakly and kind of feathering the contact. I'm not having any issues at all with normal, deliberate presses. The LCD looks nice, and the metal reference plate on the rear is excellent. And of course, the manual is outstanding. I'm quite pleased with it so far! It's precisely what I wanted it to be: a MUCH faster 15C with a healthy amount of extra memory.

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
.
Hi, all, As per the pic José Divasson (The Calculator Store) recently posted, namely ... ... the embedded HP-16C's catastrophic bug has been corrected for good by means of a patched firmware concocted by a well-know forum member (I wouldn't post his name without permission) so there you are, the HP-15C CE is now two calculators in one, both running much faster than the originals did. And who wouldn't want a free (once you've paid for the 15C CE, of course) HP-16C running unbelievably fast and (with the help of Jose's 16C overlay,) virtually indistinguishable from the original, as seen in the picture above ? If I were you I'd get one or several ASAP before the second batch is sold out and you're left biting your nails. Even as an investment to sell them out at much higher prices in the future it would make sense, this is no flimsy, buggy LE. V. P.S.: In order to get the bugless HP-16C the 15C CE must be flashed with the patched firmware, of course. I don't know if José or anyone else will either offer the service for a fee or else deliver already flashed 15C CE's to the new buyers, you'd have to find out for yourself.
