HP 15C CE f and g Keys.

Hi!
On my HP 15C LE, the f and g keys moves but the other keys are fix (don’t moves freely).
This is a know problem of the keyboard for the 15C LE.

Do you know if the HP 15C CE will have the same problem?

No one knows yet (except maybe Jose, but that's a sample of only 1) as they are not available until about August, however they are based on the same 12C design that has been manufactured for the past several years in Philippines, which has a much better keyboard than the LE and other units made in China around the same time, which do not have the loose key problem.

The 15c CE is presumably going to be identical to the current production run of the 12c (which has no "Hewlett-Packard" name on the bezel), and for that calculator, I can indeed say that the [f] and [g] keys are "loose" compared to the rest, because they are single keys (due to the separate plastic color) rather than being attached to all the other keys.

So yes, it seems you will notice this same nuance with the 15c CE that you noticed with the 15c LE.

I can confirm that there is the same problem on the HP 15C CE. If you call that a problem; it's only an aesthetic issue.

I can confirm that there is the same problem on the HP 15C CE. [...]

I can confirm that my CE doesn't have that problem. Maybe it depends on the batch. Mine is #00236.

That's strange. Was yours built in Philippines too? Mine has this tag at the top (on the back side): L/NO. 9CJ323, which I suppose is related to the production line and perhaps the batch. My serial number is 00254.

If there are such differences, it would explain that some people have issues with the keys and others don't. I saw a different manual in another thread - a ring-bound one - and I first thought it was custom-made but perhaps the manuals are different too?

How do you know that? I agree that it would make sense, except if they're produced in small series at different places (which seems to be the same for the calculators).

All units were also made in the Philippines.

I worked with Eric Rechlin as he was editing the new 15C CE manual. You can see the intro ruin that Wlodek and I wrote at the beginning of the manual.

I have just received mine - Thanks again to M. Divasson for his top-notch service and kindness!

CE's number is 00718.

Mine has f and g keys that are more mobile than the other keys. Hardly a problem, but it is noticeable.

Other than than, I tested all the keys, the "5" one initially showed some missed key strokes when press repeatedly. It seems that the problem is gone after a bit of use, though.

Also, the plate shows some white metal traces, as if some painting was missing, just below and under the R/S key. Oh well...

The machine seems to take dust a bit easily. Also, initially, gently pressing the LCD with my finger would generate some temporary black traces on screen. I can't reproduce that now, though.

I ordered the extra leather pouch, but I'm not sure whether I like it better than the standard one or not. It is a bit too big, and has no HP logo...

All in all despite these very minor issues, this seems like a quality product, I'm quite happy with it!

For the leather pouch being to large, put it into water for few hours, dry it if possible quickly, and it will shrink. I did it with the first one I ordered for a 11C, and after this it fitted perfectly.

They aren't in the same grid as the black keys, so understandably they have less stability rotationwise. Like with the LE, this might be the case to a varying degree.

On mine (LE and CE), you wouldn't notice if you didn't know what to look for.

I do agree this is not really an issue, but that's not something I noticed on the original one. Nevertheless the build quality of the CE is really high.

In mine the thing I regret is the presence of a particle behind the screen.

The original Voyagers had a keyboard peculiarity, too. The enter key has a little less travel than the other keys. On this forum, it has often been asked if this was normal. With wear, the difference became even more notable.
