is the HP 17bII+ Financial Calculator being discontinued?

I've noticed some stores in Australia listing the 17bII+ as clearance stock

Nothing has been announced to date; hopefully Moravia can comment.

I've found that many retailers simply say this when they are out of stock or nearly so, for example when that particular chain will stop selling a model. Have you seen the same behavior from multiple different chains?

yes I have seen this from two different stores.

I did wonder rather cynically, if it was just a way of moving stock on before the next shipment arrives as I have seen this also with the 12C and then after awhile the stock clearance label disappears.
