Does HP plan on a HP Prime refresh?
Hi,
I've been wondering if anyone here have insider info or have heard of any rumors on possible plans to release a completely new iteration of the Prime. I'm not talking about software, but hardware. We discussed here before what people would like to see, USB-C support, better screen, etc. Just wondering if someone here has any news to keep my hope alive. Thanks |

RE: Does HP plan on a HP Prime refresh?
While I'm sure there are things HP would like to improve, I strongly doubt there will be any more refreshes. If we can't get software updates regularly then there's no way we can get a hardware update. (unless they've been working on a hardware refresh this entire time )

You are right.
And yet, according to my children (engineering student and international Baccalaureate student), it is still by far the best calculator (compared with the TI and Casio they've used) |

But I noticed that on the app side the owner of the app changed so I guess there is work going on. Just flipping the lcd screen is enough refresh for me. It's upside down.

I can find it by searching in the Play Store, or by going from the app properties to the Play Store entry. Device is Pixel 7 with Android 14. However, on an earlier device maybe 2 years ago I saw it vanish from the store and then come back. And indeed the publisher has changed from Royal to Moravia in the entry. And still it is a pretty old but quite stable version, I am using it frequently. |

That website works on a phone too (adding that it's not available, of course) - you dont have to be on a pc for the website to see the app. I wonder why the website finds it, but the dedicated play store button doesn't? The price seems a little cheaper than the last time I looked, though it remains expensive for something with limited compatibility. Visibility of the app inside the Google Play Store itself will be hit-and-miss due to rules that Google has imposed over time to filter which results will show up. 1. Is your phone's current API level greater than or equal to the app's reported minimum supported API level? (API level roughly corresponds to major Android version, but historically there have been some cases where multiple API levels were introduced in minor versions over the life of a single major version.) If your phone's API level is less than the app's minimum, then the app will be labelled as incompatible. 2. Is the app's targeted API level (i.e. the single version of Android for which the app was optimized to provide the best experience) new enough? If your phone's actual API level is more than 2 major versions newer than the app's targeted API level, then the app will be labelled as obsolete and/or insecure. 3. Does the app contain a dependency on CPU-specific native code for a CPU sub-architecture for which your current CPU either physically cannot run, or alternately for which the necessary runtime libraries are not available? (e.g. If it relies on x86 native code, then an Arm-based phone won't able to use it. Or, historically, 64-bit Android used to include both 32-bit and 64-bit runtime libraries so that you could run apps with native code for either sub-architecture; however more recently 64-bit Android only includes 64-bit runtime libraries thus cannot run apps which strictly rely upon 32-bit native code. Apps which are distributed as pure Dalvik bytecode are not subject to this limitation.) 4. Has the app ever historically been installed on the current device? And/or, has the currently logged-in Google user account ever historically owned the app on a different device? If yes, then it ought to be listed in the Play store, but it might nevertheless be marked as incompatible. If not, then apps which have been identified as incompatible or obsolete shouldn't be visible in the Play Store at all. |
