RE: HP-25C Eumulator
Hi Patryk:
Yes the micro is preprogrammed and I've soldered the battery holder down to the pc board. Kits are $33.00USD each and assembled NP25's are $40.00USD each. Shipping inside the U.S. is an additional $3.00/ shipping outside the U.S. is $8.00. I'll send you an private message, once the kit is ready to ship so you can provide payment and your address.
Cheers....Jim J.

Jim,

That sounds great. One kit for me it is.
And not to be a cheapskate, but just a few days ago you said kits are $30? Is that $33 with shipping to US? Thanks.

RE: HP-25C Eumulator
Hi Patryk. Oops. You're not a cheapskate at all. I just made an error. You're correct, the kits are $30.00 USD, plus $3.00 shipping inside the U.S. Total cost is $33.00 for kit and shipping inside the U.S.

I've got you down for one (1) kit. I'm waiting on some switches to come in to complete the next batch of NP25's. I'll let you know as soon as they come in.
Cheers! Jim J.

RE: HP-25C Eumulator
Shipped out NP25 calculators shown as strike-thru below. More pcb's coming. SparkFun has run out of the QDSP-6064 LED displays. I recently purchased over 100 pcs, but cannot find this "new old stock" of LED displays anywhere else. I have enough displays to still build a few NP25's.

Weren't there a couple of thousand left at Sparkfun a while ago? And were they not a lot cheaper to start with?

RE: HP-25C Eumulator
Harald....yes, SparkFun had over 4,000 pieces at one time at $2.95 ea. USD, but they sold all of them. I purchased some of the last of the SparkFun stock when the inventory dropped below 200 pieces. The SparkFun U.S. site now lists the QDSP-6064 as "retired". Seems as if there are 298 pieces of the QDSP-6064 in a different SparkFun location (Germany). 2,95 Euro is around $3.26 USD, without shipping included. I'm concerned about increasing prices if the supply of this part is truly constrained.

Well, I guess there will be an end to the NP25 soon (unless someone finds a few more of these modules in a forgotten warehouse). I hope you haven't ordered huge amounts of other components?!

Hopefully we can move on to the NP41 soon Smile

RE: HP-25C Eumulator
I still use an HP25c regularly and would very much like a kit to build. What do I have to do to get one? Thanks!

Thank you for sharing that German supplier, Harald.

I have just placed on small order of just 3 units to have some spare parts for my NP-25 unit.

RE: HP-25C Eumulator
I just finished putting my NP-25 kit together and it worked fine from the start. I wish I could say the same for myself thought - I thought I had some a bad solder until I changed ROM modes to the 25C ROM and realized that the keys were all working correctly.

For me, the keys were the hardest part. I had to bend the pins slightly for them to fix in the holes. Even then I had to solder from the front because they'd fall out otherwise.

This is a wonderful little project and I thank Jim and Chris for all their hard work putting this together. I will probably hang it with my badge as a conversation piece.

would it be heresy to suggest using a non-hp part, or even producing a firmware version that uses a 16x1 LCD dotmatrix module?

cheers,
rob :-)

Why dot matrix? 7-segment would suffice ..

cheapness, easily obtained, allows for the decimal point (or comma) to occupy a character position (hp35-style). plus the future option of extending the emulation layer to decode keycode numbers into alpha opcodes when viewing a program listing.

cheers,
rob :-)

well, there are a few alternative processors out there that would be up to the task. my preference would be a PIC32MX170, that has 256k of flash to play with and can draw just a couple of mA when running at a low clock rate. less than 100uA in standby.

cheers,
rob :-)

Shipping completed on last batch of NP25 calculators shown as strike-thru below. Just received more PCB's from China. Waiting on some more pushbuttons. I have enough QDSP-6064 displays to build around 40 NP25's. If anyone is interested, can ship kits or assembled units mid-Nov.
