eBook - Statistical Calculations {w/ reference to the HP-65}
An excerpt from Statistical Calculations: how to solve statistical problems, Ann Arbor Science, 1976, 120 pages
INTRODUCTION This little book is a collection of detailed solutions to practical statistical problems … All of the examples presented in this little book are based upon actual experimental results and are easily adaptable to any scientific or engineering field. The examples have been selected from a wide variety of activities in hopes that the reader will see that regardless of the subject area, the application of the statistical technique is identical. The mathematical symbols employed in this book … were selected to provide a simple and logical method of mathematical shorthand. The symbols are easily understood and should assist in understanding the examples. … An attempt has been made to present a detailed example of all of the standard techniques used in analyzing and interpreting scientific and engineering information. The presentations are not exhaustive because of the similarity of various techniques. … … … All computer centers have a standard package of programs which will make all of the calculations shown in the examples presented in this book … Another useful tool that has recently become available is the minicomputer that can be obtained from several firms. Probably the most effective one obtainable is the Hewlett Packard HP-65 which has available a STAT PAC. Practically all of the standard statistical calculations can be made with the HP-65 programmable calculator. … BEST! SlideRule |

RE: eBook - Statistical Calculations & the HP-65
sliderule,
Your title is a bit misleading as the article itself makes no mention of applying the statistical calculations to the HP-65 or any other calculator (programmable or not). The article provides wonderful details of formulas and worked out examples that can be used by software developers to implement the methods and test the correctness of their code. This code can be implemented in any programmable calculator (with enough memory and programming steps) or any computer programming language. Namir |
