The Calculator Store website migration
I post this here since many of the hpmuseum.org members are also customers of The Calculator Store.
We are migrating our web today to a new webshop model, and the page will be down for the day during the migration. We expect to have it ready for tomorrow, but of course we also expect problems to happen, for which we'd like to apologize in advance. We have taken the opportunity to reorganize and simplify the website - which had grown organically since its inception in 2011 and created a lot of pages - some of which were not relevant anymore, or were located in the wrong place. We thank you for your patience and hope to see you back again! |

RE: The Calculator Store website migration
Good luck with the move Jose, I hope all goes as smoothly as possible.
We'll wait here patiently, eager to see the new site, explore its corners and hopefully find new things to read and buy. I had no idea the site goes all the way back to 2011, I did not find you until about 5-6 years ago. Good luck and much patience!! --Bob Prosperi |

RE: The Calculator Store website migration
Will you have 301 redirects for all the old URLs to point to their new equivalents, so that links from elsewhere don't break?

It'll take some time to replicate. So I have learned how to do 301 redirections! Please tell me which links you need to have redirected - or where I can find them! |

I don't know if you use the Google Search Console, but if you do, you can get a list of all the URLs they have indexed in that: https://search.google.com/search-console You can then export that to CSV/Excel for easy manipulation and mapping to your new URLs for configuring your 301 redirects. If you don't have the Google Search console, maybe there are other ways to do it, but the only other way I know of is to do a Google search with site:thecalculatorstore.com and you can manually go through all the results: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%253...rstore.com But that's a lot more tedious than the console's export. |

RE: The Calculator Store website migration
Here's one which seems not to have survived
https://web.archive.org/web/202101241809...2cnewvsold And here's another https://web.archive.org/web/202405120210...n-New-York Perhaps more importantly, the Search function doesn't seem to find any articles in the Blog area. |

RE: The Calculator Store website migration
Blog is not supported in this webshop, so I had to create some normal content pages to handle that.
Having around 700 blog pages, this is something I will do one by one, with a lot of time... |

RE: The Calculator Store website migration
It's not clear how to set the language of the new site. It has a dropdown on the top to pick my country, and after picking Estados Unidos everything stayed in Spanish. Also, the countries appear to be listed in a random order (not sorted alphabetically in Spanish, English, or even by ISO country code) so it's not easy to find the desired country.

On my MacBook running Firefox as web browser the selection of language and country is not possible at all. It is set fixed to "English" and "Belgium". With Safari on the iPad it works normally. Regards Max Addition: Nothing at all works under Firefox. No menus, no selection, no customer login. |

We have opened a ticket to sort that out. You can move from English to Spanish, but not the other way around!!! Meanwhile: the English website is www.thecalculatorstore.com/en . This seems to work in any case. |
