Unable to view Emulator in HP Connectivity Kit

Good evening.

I am running HP Connectivity it on an M1 Macbook running OS 15 (Sequoia) I also have the HP Prime emualtor installed.

I have never managed to get the Emulator to appear in Connectivity Kit. I have tried restarting both applications many times, with networking turned on an off. I've reinstalled both. It's never worked.

I wonder if anyone could give me any pointers?

I can't offer any suggestions, only a data point in that it is working for me, on MacOS 13.7, on a 2018 MBP x86_64.

So it might be related to M1 support, or your newer OS, perhaps?

Assuming we're using the same HP versions.

Both the CK, and virtual Prime app, are: 2.1.14425

I just tested it on a Sequoia 15.0.1 MacBook Air M2 and it worked (latest versions of both the emulator and & the connection kit).

That said, Connection Kit crashed after I hit command-Q... so your mileage may vary.

Make sure you accepted the permissions requests both apps prompted for when they were first run. There are two: accept incoming connections and allow searching of the local network.

The first can be checked by going to System Settings -> Network -> Firewall -> Options and checking the list to see that HP Connectivity Kit and HP Prime.app allow incoming connections.

The second I don't know how to check after installation: System Settings doesn't seem to provide the info. If you can't remember, or aren't certain, then delete and reinstall the apps. Each should then prompt again on first run.

Lastly, in the Connectivity Kit preferences, check under IP Networking that you have ticked Enable Network, mDs and MultiBroadcast. In the HP Prime app preferences check that you have ticked Enable Network.

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps I need to dig my old Windows 10 laptop out and try it on that.

Has anyone on the forum managed to get the software to work properly on an M-chip Mac?

Apologies for the previous post not making much sense - when I refreshed the page it was only showing the first reply, from @cdmackay. I guess I must have had Internet issues.

Now I have seen and read all the replies I have got it working (albeit it still crashes from time to time). @BruceH 's suggestion proved to be the one that worked - I reinstalled but it did not ask for any permissions - I guess because when I deleted the first install it didn't remove all the preferences - which to be honest I didnt' have much appetite for hunting down.

Instead I checked only the firewall settings, and it does now work.

It seems like when first I installed it I may have clicked the wrong option and it has never asked again when I've reinstalled.

Thanks for the help. It now works. which makes programming much easier because I can use a proper keyboard.

For that, consider a utility called Hazel; it has several useful functions, including auto-filing of files, automatic Trash size management, and a feature called App Sweep, where it will (optionally) hunt down and remove an application's support files, when that application is removed.
